I was raised on a firm foundation in Christ, but like many, I strayed for a time — running with the wrong crowd, lashing out in anger over loss I had never dealt with, and eventually ending up in prison. What looked like the end became the beginning. Bored and searching, I read the Bible cover to cover and realized that everything I was going through, someone had faced before me and that what God desired for my life was something entirely different from what the world had taught me.
Today I write a daily devotion that reaches more than 215 people, lead Bible studies and youth groups from my home, and work to pull young people out of gangs and into a life of purpose. All my ups, downs, and loop-ti-loops made me the man, son, husband, and father I am today. I believe we are either growing or dying a member of society or a menace to it and that the choice is always ours.
